Our complaint is in regard to the non-compliance of the South African Government to this treaty

The African Centre for Biosafety (ACB) is a South African NGO deeply concerned with biosafety in South Africa and on the African continent.

We have, over the years, been involved in the revision and improvement of South Africa’s biosafety regime and have actively participated in decision-making on Living Modified Organisms (LMOs) through our interrogation of LMO permit applications.

We have also been attending meetings held under the auspices of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity for several years now, with regard to the negotiations concerning the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety.

The ACB is a highly respected activist organisation, which has provided credible, reliable and timely information to the public on GMOs and biosafety in South Africa and the region as a whole, spanning more than five years.
